Since 2010, a group from iGENEA has been using a hair sample of Napoleon Bonaparte to decript his own DNA and eventually match it to of his rest known family. The project continued furthern when the DNA sequence matched, in trying to match Napoleon to possible descendants all over the world.

A report from the Napoleon iGENEA project stated: "The profile of Napoleon is rather rare. Similar profiles can be found among sephardic Jews, in Greece and Italy."
